Emily Junkin, PhD

Director

Dr. Junkin is an Assistant Professor in the Clinical Psychology discipline of the School of Psychology at The University of Southern Mississippi. She received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Virginia Consortium Program of Clinical Psychology based in Norfolk, Virginia. While in graduate school, Dr. Junkin conducted research on impaired control over alcohol use using cross-sectional, daily diary, and experimental designs. Notably, she conducted the first alcohol administration study at Old Dominion University. Clinically, Dr. Junkin has considerable experience working with college-attending emerging adults in university settings and completed her pre-doctoral internship at the University of Delaware's Center for Counseling and Student Development

Personally, Dr. Junkin enjoys playing tennis, lounging, cooking, and spending time with her husband and two small dogs. 

Graduate Student Members

Abi Wilkinson, B.A.

Graduate Research Assistant

Abi Wilkinson is a second-year doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology program at the University of Southern Mississippi. She graduated with her B.A. in psychology and a minor in Spanish studies from Clemson University. Abi is currently interested in mental health resource awareness, accessibility, and utilization, particularly in underserved and underrepresented populations. She is also interested in the long-term outcomes of childhood traumatic experiences. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, getting coffee with friends, reading, and Taylor Swift music.

Taylor Singleton

Undergraduate Research Assistant

Taylor Singleton is a third-year undergraduate student with a major in psychology and a sociology minor. She recently transferred from Hinds Community College after graduating with her associate degree. Taylor is currently interested in exploring academic spaces to gain knowledge in different psychological fields. She is also interested in the effects of the brain after traumatic internal and external personal events. She enjoys hanging out with friends, drawing, watching anime, and listening to the alternative genre of music in her free time.
